I am a Freelance Illustrator/Fine Artist, based in Milton Keynes,
Buckinghamshire, UK, although I originate from Colchester, Essex. I have
a Diploma in Art, Design and Media from Milton Keynes College.
I am a huge fan of naive/folkart styles and I love to paint this way,
producing work that is colourful, cheerful and is exactly what it
is...there are no hidden messages or deep and meaningfuls going
on with my art...I want my art to adorn the walls of people's homes,
cafes and restaurants, offices etc and I want people to smile at them
each time they look at them...that's important to me.
I have
many interests which feature in my art. These include; the sea, nature,
animals, skies, weather, streetscapes, sport, people, nostalgia and
humour.
I paint mostly in acrylics, but I also enjoy painting
with gouache and watercolour, although I tend to use these mediums more
for my illustration work.
If I had to pinpoint a favourite art
style from history, then without doubt it would be work of the
Impressionists and Post Impressionists of the late 19th - early 20th
centuries, especially Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cezanne. I am also a
huge fan of L.S. Lowry. Although his style of painting and mine are
poles apart, there is much that inspires me about the man himself and
the art he produced.
There are a large number of contemporary
artists who I really admire, most of them painting in the quirky, naive,
folk arty manner.
I also sell art through markets,
fairs and festivals. Sometimes the work I produce for an event might be
subject specific and other times it can be general. It is important to
me to be able to produce work in a range of subjects and styles to suit
as many tastes as possible.
I accept commissions for paintings on canvas,
stones, pots, wood etc, but I do not do portraits or animals. So, if
you're looking for that little something different, for that hard to buy
for person, then I might just be able to help!
As an
Illustrator, I am available to produce hand drawn/painted images (I do
not use any digital technology in my work and I do not do typefacing).
So if it's am illustration for a leaflet, flyer, poster, menu, CD
cover, CD booklet, book jacket or even a series of illustrations for a
book you're after, I will be delighted to hear from you. No job too
small! |
